Made any New Year's Resolutions yet? Or rather, how many have you broken? We start with best intentions, don't we, then by around day 4 or 5 we've caved. Don't worry, it's tradition.
But there's one resolution you won't want to break. The little voice inside that grows louder and louder as the cold wintry skies set in and the wind bites our noses - 'get me out of here!' Retreat, escape, holiday beckons. But oh no! We've spent all our cash on Christmas presents and the wretched sales (you won't actually wear that jumper, you do know that don't you?). Now there's nothing to look forward to...or is there? Yes, otherwise this would be a very cruel and heartless blog post. Put down that 17th cocktail sausage and pay attention. We've got a New Year's present all wrapped up for you: Winter stays at our gorgeous Cornish apartment in Fowey from just £285! (don't worry, there's no annoying sofa warehouse jingle to accompany that message, just a moment of quiet as this great offer sinks in). Quick, head over to our Bookings Page to check availability and then give us a call on 01225 471687 or 07780 589437 or email [email protected]. Happy New Year to one and all xx

Spring has come very early this year to our sheltered little corner of Cornwall. The early rhodos are in full bloom, the snowdrops are out and so are even the early primroses . It's a wonderful sight in the garden at Carnethic House and in the hedgerows along the lane down to Readymoney Cove. January - February Fowey is quite quiet in January but as soon as February comes, it springs into life again. Half Term is early this year ; one week is taken but we still have some availability. It's great to go on one of our many walks, come back for a swim and sauna and then curl up in front of the log fire with a favourite book or DVD -- bliss ! Spring Spring really gets underway in March with azaleas and camellias and rhodos looking so exotic in the famous Cornish valley gardens. This is my favourite time of year to visit our wonderful gardens with Heligan and Llanhydrock [ open every day in winter with the restaurant daily from the beginning of February ] being on our doorstep and Trelissick and Trebar an easy drive. April, May and June are also wonderful months for garden visits and walks along the coastal paths that can even be reached on foot from the garden at Carnethic. I've done a Walks sheet taking our garden as the starting point -- we often leave the car on the drive for days on end, walk everywhere and buy all we need at the excellent local Fowey shops. Summer Summer means beach, boats, lazy days by the pool -- and the Fowey Regatta ! Not to be missed especially the fireworks ! Autumn Life quietens down to mellow fruitfulness in Autumn -- with a gentleness and warmth we love. Hope you like this little snapshot of the year at The Garden, Carnethic House -- come and enjoy it too. The log fire has been roaring away and the underfloor heating has been toasting our feet at our beautiful Garden apartment in Fowey, Cornwall. But this last weekend gave us a flavour of things to come as the temperature rose outside and we dared to loosen our layers.
Is Spring nearly here? Let's celebrate it anyway with a discount offer Easter will soon be upon us when the garden at The Garden casts aside its hibernation suit. Then, with a fanfare, this little corner of Cornish paradise will erupt in colours and smells and sounds. There is simply nothing like our luxury apartment and award-winning garden in Fowey in the spring. Why not experience it for yourself and take advantage of our May discount? One of the real treats that Fowey has to offer is its annual Christmas Market. This year it's back on the Town Quay and will be opened by everyone's favourite green guru, Dick Strawbridge.
We can't wait to sample the market's myriad delights. See our Things to do page for a flavour of the atmosphere. But we hear accommodation is disappearing fast, so don't hesitate, no umming and ahing - we've made Carnethic House available for this special weekend at an equally special rate of £250! To find out more, contact Marian on 01225 471687. A brisk downhill stroll through the woods below Carnethic to Readymoney beach then up the other side of the cove to the cliffs and a chance encounter with these fine ladies. Moo. A turn of the head and we're looking out to sea and back across the mouth of the Fowey estuary. On this Bank Holiday there were myriad boats, possibly the Polruan Regatta (that's Polruan nestling on the far cliffs)....it's just that I somehow managed to miss all the boats when I took the photo - look at that lovely clear sky though! An hour (ish) later and we've made it: Polkerris Beach. A quick dip in the sheltered bay for those of us who don't suffer anaphylactic shocks at the mere sight of northern hemisphere water, then into Sam's on the Beach (always book first - by phone or online, simples) for delicious moules....Joy! Here's a little tip: make the most of every minute of this glorious place and, after your long lazy lunch, don't resign yourself to the A30 and M5 just yet, get on the beach and jolly well stay there. We all have that feeling that on our last day we should pack up and go. Oh sure, in the days before we say we'll spend the whole day in Cornwall, but you know how it is once you're packed and the car's stacked. Fight those urges people, because what's more, you'll beat the traffic. All this - beautiful views, delicious food, sandy beaches, watersports, exercise (on them cliffs), hidden coves, deep breaths and fuel for the soul....right on the doorstep of our wonderful Cornish apartment at Carnethic House in Fowey, the perfect escape all year round.
Tempted? Why not book your little slice of paradise by calling Marian on 01225 471687 or email [email protected] or complete our enquiry form? Visitors to Fowey over Bank Holiday woke up to this stunning view on Monday. At first we thought we might still be dreaming (due to a fairly detailed study of the cocktail list at Sam's top floor bar the night before), but sure enough, there it was, The Black Watch in all her regal splendour and imposing elan. What a sight!
No doubt she'll be featuring on postcards of Fowey soon...who knows, perhaps one of our Cornish Hols guests at Carnethic House will pin her up on our Note with a Boat gallery. www.cornishhols.com is the new website for our luxury self-catering apartment, The Garden at Carnethic House.
Please stay and have a browse through the website...then come and stay in Fowey! We're sure you'll love it as much as we do. Everyone else does, as you'll see from the lovely things they say. Our Cornish holiday apartment is the perfect escape at any time of year. Even this August with the heavens opening our guests haven't been disappointed, there's always so much to do and see. And if you can't gather the energy to go out of the front door, then don't. Just take one of the doors out on to the balcony, down the steps into the garden, through the little gate under the flower arch and into the relaxing warm atmosphere of the heated pool, sauna and hot tub. It really is the perfect escape - come and enjoy it for yourselves. |
